NAPEO one of the PEO Industries Associations has proposed a new bill - NAPEO’s Small Business Efficiency Act of 2011 (H.R.2466), as always it would appear that the bill is written primarily for the benefit of the LARGE PEO’s in the country.  If you own a PEO, work for a PEO, are or aren’t a NAPEO member, you need to read the following view of NAPEO’s bill as written by PACE.  PACE, the Professional Administrative Co-Employers have always been our industries watchdog when it comes to legislation that NAPEO proposes… I couldn’t agree with the article more… read the article and let NAPEO know, they need to understand the legislation they propose needs to represent the needs of the entire industry not just a few large PEO’s.

Outsourcing Human Resources can cause alarm in any workplace.

Will jobs be lost? Will the cost of healthcare increase? Will benefits decrease?

All are understandable reactions as the economy continues to tread water and the prospect of becoming unemployed remains an ever-present reality.

A Professional Employer Organization (PEO) – an outside company that handles human resource services – often is seen as an interloper or labeled the enemy because of misconceptions that it will lead to firings of in-house staff or increased costs.

What always amazes me is… everyone I know has an opinion, an idea, a suggestion, but it’s like pulling teeth to get anyone to share their thoughts.  We need to figure out a way to create more awareness of the PEO Industry.  I’ve had some good responses, but we need more ideas.  If you are part of the PEO Industry take 5 minutes and share your thoughts.

So the PEO industry has been around for over 25 years.  As an industry we have less than 3% market share and nobody can figure out why.

Well, I’ve been talking to some of my friends in the industry and we want to get everyone’s thoughts about “WHY” – Why is it after 25 years, the PEO Industry is still hovering around the 3% market penetration?

The follow-up quest ion is – What can we do to create more awareness of the PEO Industry?

What is the PEO Industries “Big Hairy Audaciouos Goal?”

I found it interesting that in my December copy of the PEO Insider they addressed what they felt was “The PEO Industry’s Big Hairy Audacious Goal” also known as the the BHAG (I’d like to give credit to James Collins and Jerry Porras for coining the term Big Hairy Audacious Goal in their book, “Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies”).

What is the BHAG for the PEO Industry?  Well the article gets to the point and asks: How can the PEO Industry Really Take Off?
